What is feta cheese?

Feta is a classic and famous Greek curd cheese whose tradition dates back thousands of years. Feta cheese is white, formed into to semi-hard square cakes, with a tangy, salty flavor. It is a soft cheese with no skin, with small holes and a compact touch with few cuts.

How do we make feta cheese?

Grass-fed cow's milk is curdled with vegetable rennet, then separated and allowed to drain in special molds. It is cut into large slices (feta means "slice") that are salted with Mediterranean sea salt and then packed into various containers filled with Mediterranean sea salt brine. Feta is made from drained instead of pressed curd.

Why should I eat feta cheese?

Feta cheese contains significant amounts of magnesium and calcium. Whole milk cheeses appear to have higher amounts of calcium and magnesium remaining in the curd after the whey is removed. Cheese is also a significant source of CLA, a fatty acid that research has found to play a beneficial role in reducing the risk of certain cancers and heart disease, enhancing immune function and regulating body weight/body fat distribution. Also, feta cheese is one of the lowest-fat cheeses.

Does feta cheese contain preservatives?

No, it doesn't. Feta Cheese is an acidic product and it can be kept without the need for preservatives.
